Ertlort

The Ertlortish race arose in the tunnels around the Great Sunder Hole. They are skilled diggers, skilled craftsmen and tolerably good warriors. Most other races consider them to be counterpart to the Grulorten, since there are certain aspects of the Ertlorten which are opposite those of the Grulorten. The underground city of Erttols is home to the Ertlort race.

Rest after a Hard Fight Ertlorten regenerate faster when night has fallen, or when it is dark. They are able to see in the darkness as an innate ability. They can not see very far in comparison with most other races however, since distant sight is not an advantage in tunnels. They are strong and average in resistance to both cold and heat. They are small in size, due to their underground lifestyle. They are pale of skin and dark of eye. Ertlorten can sometimes sense things other races can't, exits where none seem to exist, things like that. This is a special skill and takes concentration and energy.

Erttols*

Erttols is near the Sunder Hole and surrounded by hostile and uncivilized races such as the Gremlins and the Goltnats. Therefore not many of the other civilized races have occasion to visit Erttols and the city remains something of a mystery. Without a trained and knowledgeable Ertlorten guide few can make it into the tunnels that mark the entrances to the city, or indeed even find them.

It is known that the Ertlorten are marvelous craftsmen, and wonderful builders. Their city reflects such, with giant rooms full of glittering gemstones, carefully carved stone waterways and wheels, smooth furniture shaped from the very earth itself, and vast strange rooms where food is raised and harvested, lit by skylights which reflect and concentrate light via mirrors.

The Ertlorten are ruled by a hereditary council composed of men and women who marry only each other and are therefore inbred and quite mad. Under this council is a series of tribal leaders, who do all the real management and decision making. These leaders are strictly female, as they are the scions and progenitors of the tribal lines. The average Ertlorten female, however, is counterpart to the Ertlorten male in rank, abilities and social standing.

*: Some of the cities and towns are not yet built, as the mud is all original and building takes time. These descriptions are provided for reference and to help with character creation and context. The creation of these elements will follow the guidelines outlined above.
