The Faea are the most magical and secretive of the
peoples of Sidalicia. They live in the forests south of New Draconia, over
the Sunder Gap, in a magical city called Faevic. Faevic is not exactly
an open city, and it is very hard to find, but once someone is actually
in it the Faea will not bother him or her. Faea are the only race to have
race memory of the dragons, and they do not join in the other races' worship
of that long past time when the dragons ruled.
Faea are medium sized, tall and slender, or short
and amply curved if female. They are agreed to be the most beautiful of
the races, all Faea are attractive in one way or another with their lightly
tinged skin and long colorful hair. Faea are usually kind and helpful,
but can be very arrogant, secretive, protective and closemouthed. Faea
are long lived and very wise and intelligent. They are well adapted to
cold but tend to suffer in extreme heats. Their eyesight is excellent.
Their fighting skills are usually weak, so they tend to concentrate on
magic. Naturally cautious, Faea can detect alignment innately.
Faea are better defensively
in a fight than offensively by a slight margin. Because they are so steeped
in magic, Faea stand a chance of overcoming other races 'natural resistance
to certain types of magic. This only works on other people, not the caster
him/herself, it also only works with casted magic. Wands, scrolls, etc
aren't included.
Faevic*
Once upon a time the Faea had Kings and Queens, like many of the other races. In times
long past however, the King and Queen on behalf of all their heirs for ever and ever, renounced
the throne in favor of a council of leaders who are elected every 10 years. This overthrow
was entirely peaceful, and there are still Princes and Princesses of the Faea. Their
titles are only in name now.
The Faea see no difference between the abilities of men and women, except for the
accident of nature that made women the bearers of children. Their council members are
both male and female, and they see nothing wrong with being led women. This is in marked
contrast to other races, especially the Korylani and the human Sidalicians. Distrustful
of strangers at first, once their trust has been won the Faea make wonderful and
steadfast friends. Faevic is a town built in the treetops, with agricultural lands and
farms spread into the glades and meadows of the forest in which they live. Strangers
will have difficulty in discovering Faevic, although the townspeople tend to be
interested in outlanders, if not exactly comfortable with them.
*: Some of the cities and towns are not yet built, as the mud is all original and
building takes time. These descriptions are provided for reference and to help with
character creation and context. The creation of these elements will follow the guidelines
outlined above.
