Korylan legend claims they are descended from the last of the dragons, if indeed the dragons are really gone. What the dragons have to say about this legend is unwritten. What is known is that the Korylani's natural home is the deserts of the south west. There they live in their city of Korholt which rises from a vast rocky desertified plain. Korholt is an open city, but the Korylani are by nature arrogant, suspicious, proud, and warlike.
Korylani have remarkable abilities in certain
conditions. They can pull down a second eyelid when conditions are gritty,
such as during sandstorms, and thus see when others are blinded. They tolerate
heat to a remarkable degree but suffer intensely in the cold. Their constitution
is the strongest of the races. They are medium sized, with usually gray
or gold scaly skin and marvelously colorful eyes. Their tongues are purple.
Korholt and the Korylani are ruled by a Sultan usually given the name Stryder. Their civilization is an open one, but they have customs which are strange to some of the other cultures. One half of the Korylani population, the females, are tightly controlled and few are permitted to travel to far lands. This has been changing in the last few generations, and more Korylani females are seen in the lands beyond the IgnisRain than ever before. The Korylani Stryder and his Queen Almorna are famous throughout all the lands for the peace they brokered. It is due to their efforts that it is safe to travel most anywhere in the countries of the civilized races.
